I am applying for a proofreader/copy editor job. Unlike other proofing jobs I've had in the past, this one will require proofing/copy editing in InDesign. I have basic page layout skills in InDesign, but haven't found anything about inserting proofing marks, such as caret and transpose symbols. Is there a library to download, or a specific command sequence I need to enter to access such symbols? Or do I have to purchase a program like PDFpen?
I've never noticed anything like that in InDesign itself. Adobe's InCopy program is designed specifically to allow editors, designers, and layout artists to work on the same InDesign file so there is probably a "track changes" function in InCopy.
Take alook at www.wealledit.com. Our webapplication main purpose is to make proofreading of InDesign documents easy and with a great overview and history of all changes.
