Hello all,
New here so be gentle please. I am having a recurrent problem while using InDesign. Helvetica swaps to Times when I copy and past a document to render a plate. Also similar occurance the fonts size changes from pt.12 to pt.10. I am having a long term problem with this it has been happening since I was working CS2. I am now in CS4.

Any help ideas are appreciated

Im not sure, but maybe you can change that in preferences, for example to set helvetica, or what you need to basic font for In Design, another solution is to use styles, u wont have problems also if you are importing text like rtf. at once. Dont use copy and paste, a lot of mistakes and a lot of work going that way. I hope some of these advices will help you

I agree with Goran: don't cut and paste. Import the text file instead. Times is the default font for InDesign's "Basic Paragraph" style. If you often use Helventica, change the "Basic Paragraph" style to Helvetica when no file is open and it will become the new default font for the Basic Paragraph style. (If a file is open when you modify Basic Paragraph, it is only modified for the open file.)

Rather than use the Basic Paragraph style, though, it is better to create a new paragraph style with the specs you want--12/15 Helvetica Medium, for example. When you File/Place a text file, make sure there is a checkmark by "Show Import options" so the import dialog box will have a section that let's you map the imported text's styles (Normal and any other) to your InDesign paragraph style(s). This still may not be perfect but it should be better.
