Fonts: Font in Office not mapped the same when used in InDesign

I am working on a book in Armenian. The translation work was done in Vista (Office 2007) using the Arial Armenian font. When I place this text in to InDesign. I have unmapped characters. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

(We staying on a PC platform to avoid this type of problem).

    Did the translation happen on the same machine?
    It could be a different font set.
